The visit will begin with a breakfast in Alhaurín de la Torre, the second most populated town in the province of Málaga. This place, located in the region of Guadalhorce valley, has been able to maintain its identity and traditions despite of the urban growth. We will go for a walk through the circuses and visit the old town and the municipal park. We will also visit the old town, the church Iglesia de San Sebastián and the old hiding place Casa Refugio de Torrijos.
In 1831, General José María Torrijos led an uprising against the absolutism of King Fernando 7th. His objective was to restore the Constitution of 1812, but following his betrayal at the hands of the governor of Málaga, he fled from the royal troops to Alhaurín de la Torre, hiding in the farmhouse known as Hacienda de la Alquería, which belonged to the Count of Mollina. Following his capture on the fifth of December 1831, he and his companions were shot on the eleventh of December on the beach of El Carmen, in Málaga. His remains are currently buried beneath the square Plaza de la Merced.
Next, we will set a course for the city of Málaga, where we will visit the botanical garden Jardín Botánico del Paseo del Parque, where there are found the nymphs Ninfa del Cántaro and Ninfa de la Caracola, the statue Estatua del Verano y el Invierno and the fountain Fuente de las Tres Gracias.
We will also go all over the old town and visit the Roman Theatre, Gibralfaro and the Cathedral. We will also visit Muelle 1, the recreation and leisure area located in the Port of Málaga.
