VISIT 9 & 10
Periana – Alfarnate – Alfarnatejo
The visit will begin with a breakfast in a typical local restaurant in Periana. We will visit this town, go all over its narrow streets and enjoy the amazing views of Axarquía and the mountains of thousand-year- old olive trees.
The lunch will take place in a typical local restaurant of the area.
Right after, we will set a course for Alfarnate, a mountain town in the Axarquía region that acquired a particular relevance because of the presence of bandits. We will go all over its most typical streets and its Moorish, narrow and winding side streets. We will also visit the church Iglesia Santa Ana and its Mudejar tower, dated from the fifteenth century, as well as the hermitage Ermita Virgen de Monsalud, dated from the sixteenth century. The lunch will take place in a typical local restaurant of the area.
Our last destination will be Alfarnatejo, a town of wide and plain streets, whose archaeological remains in the narrow gorge of the Sabar river have provided evidence of human presence since the Neolithic era.
